Cardigan Mountain School

New Hampshire, USA

Cardigan Mountain School is a boarding school for boys in grades 6 to 9 that places great emphasis on hands-on learning full of games and experiments. Every day is filled with activities that develop students, help them build routines, and establish healthy habits. When learning about nature, boys head outdoors; in art they paint, draw, and work with wood; in photography classes they learn to shoot and use a camera – the focus on learning by doing is absolute. A key part of the curriculum is the PEAKS program, which helps students identify and understand their own unique learning style. Equally important is the Gates Invention & Innovation program, which encourages creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. Each fall, students or teams are tasked with designing and building a prototype invention that serves a practical purpose and makes life easier. Everything at Cardigan – from academics and sports to fun – is tailored to boys with the goal of helping them reach their full potential.

With an outstanding student-teacher ratio of 4:1, Cardigan provides truly individualized support for every student.
